Tsinghua-Chicago-ETH Zurich International Young Scholars Forum 2021 is Successfully Held

From October 26 to 28, the International Young Scholars Forum 2021 was successfully held online, which was jointly sponsored by THU School of Law, the Coase-Sandor Institute for Law and Economics of the University of Chicago and the Center for Law and Economics of ETH Zurich, and organized by the Coase-Sandor Institute for Law and Economics of the University of Chicago. Since its inauguration in 2018, the International Young Scholars Forum has provided a platform for young scholars in the field of law and social sciences to share and exchange research results, promoting cooperation among young scholars across regions.


Research papers of six young scholars from Asia, America and Europe in the field of law and social sciences were selected for discussion at the forum, and more than 20 well-known scholars were invited from THU School of Law, Chicago University Institute for Law and Economics, Research Center for Law and Economics, and School of Humanities, Society and Politics of ETH Zurich, Harvard University Law School, Oxford University St Hugh's College, Peking University Law School, Columbia University Law School, University of Toronto Law School, Tel Aviv University Law School, Pompeu Fabra University Law School, the University of Hong Kong Law School and other institutions. Professor He Haibo, Professor Tang Xin, Professor Cui Guobin and Associate Professor Gao Simin from THU School of Law attended the forum and made comments. Ma Chao, assistant researcher of Tsinghua University Academy of Social Sciences, and Zheng Zhaoyou, assistant researcher of the London School of Economics and Political Science, participated in the forum discussion.

With a focus on the interdisciplinary studies of law, sociology and economics, the International Young Scholars Forums explores the legal issues and normative ideas behind social phenomena through empirical research. The young scholars sharing in this forum are Meirav FURTH-MATZKIN from UCLA Law School, Monika LESZCZYNSKA from Maastricht University Law School, Kevin TOBIA from Georgetown University Law School, XIA Ying from the University of Hong Kong Law School, Andrew BAKER from Stanford University Law School and WU Yuhao from Peking University School of Transnational Law. Six young scholars shared their latest research topics and papers respectively. The distinguished guests at the meeting gave wonderful comments and held discussions on the participants' speeches, and offered valuable opinions and suggestions for the young scholars.

Finally, the organizers of the International Young Scholars Forum once again expressed their heartfelt thanks to all the guests for their splendid speeches. It was hoped that with the ending of the COVID-19 pandemic the forum could be held offline again, so that scholars would have better face-to-face communication.
