The Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot (FDI Moot), one of the global English moots with an extensive influence, is renowned as one of the most famous international moots in the world, the other two being Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. FDI Moot, with a focus on the field of international investment law, aims at inspiring more students to study international investment arbitration and training legal talents for this field. Since the official establishment of the China Round in 2020, the FDI Moot SHENZHEN has become the only channel for Chinese teams to qualify for the global competitions. The Moot this year attracted a total of 42 university teams from the Chinese mainland, and Hong Kong and Macau, China.

Postdoctoral fellow Zhao Chunlei and Associate Professor Jane Willems of THU School of Law acted as the coaches of the Tsinghua University team this year, and Chen Yiwen (Grade 2021 graduate student) of the School of Law was the team leader. Chen Yiwen, Fu Jiajun (Grade 2021 graduate students), Zheng Zhou (Grade 2021 graduate student) and Li Yuxin (Grade 2019 undergraduate student) served as advocates.

During the preparatory period lasting nearly three-months, the team actively carried out legal research and court debate training, gradually understood the competition questions, consolidated their legal knowledge base, searched for favorable arguments and established argument logic through high-quality group discussions and simulation competitions. Under the guidance of the coaches, the team members promptly reviewed their performance after each practice, and conducted in-depth research on the arguments pertinently, which laid a solid foundation for their brilliant performance of the final official moot competition.
